The Deed of Paksenarrion is the collective term for these works but also serves as the primary reference for Elizabeth Moon's fantasy series. One can similarly compare the dual usage to J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings which describes the main novel and serves as the shorthand reference for Tolkien's entire fantasy though there are other works beyond it.
Of note, the three novels that comprise The Deed each have 31 chapters. A short prologue was added to the omnibus.
Shortly following the individual publications of the three novels in late 1988 and early 1989, Baen released this omnibus using the popular collective title for the works, copyrighted February 1992.
- ↑ Admittedly, Moon's work is three separate novels collected whereas Tolkien's LOTR is one novel in three well-known volumes.
